Just a couple of quick tips to help you stay organized throughout the school year.

First Things First:
Go to your schools website and look for a list of materials needed for that year. If your teachers are like mine, you'll have a list given to you on the first day of school. Look through this list and find out where you can get those things.
Start With A Pouch
I find that the cutest pencil pouches are at Target, World Market, or Tilly's. In this pouch keep things you have on all the lists from your teachers. An example might be a highlighter, pencil, glue, blue pen, black pen, etc.
Now For The Tips
1. Write Everything Down!
If you have homework due the following day, WRITE IT DOWN!! This will help you remember it. Next to this put a small box. Once you have completed this task, check it off. This will give you a sense of accomplishment and will give you an understanding of what you have done and what you have left to finish.
2. Use a Planner
This one correlates with the one above. If something is due, or there is an upcoming event, put it in your planner. Again. write a check box next to it so when you have completed this task or you have gone to the event, you can cross it off so you know you have finished.
3. Actually Organize Everything
Every week, take a day to fix your cluttered things. Go into your backpack an unload it onto a surface. Go through everything and recycle papers, put things back in their original places, go through your planner, and make sure you have all the supplies you need.
4. Have a Binder With Tabs For Every Class
If your teacher just handed you back a test, DON'T THROW IT AWAY! Put it in your binder, behind the correct tab. This may be super valuable for you at the end of your grading period. If your teacher put that test in as a zero but you got a 10/10, you can show her that test and get that correct grade. Binders are also important because you won't have papers cluttered in your backpack.
5. Set Goals For Yourself
Setting goals for yourself will help you get things done, making task simple and easy. This will keep your homework organized and it'll get done in a timely manner. Setting goals is very important because you have something to achieve, therefore making you work towards achieving it, making you want to get the assignment done.
6. Don't Let Work Pile Up
"I'll do it later." or "I'm to lazy to do it right now, maybe later.". DON'T SAY IT! We all know that when we say those things, it really means I'm going to wait until midnight the night before it is due. Do not do this. Get your work done early or at least give yourself two to three days to get it done. Don't cram it all in last minute. This will help you have an organized work space as well because you won't have assignment after assignment pilling up on your desk.
7. Do One Thing At A Time
If you start doing one task and get bored so you start another task, you'll end up with a pile of half finished assignments all over your desk. If start something, finish it. This will make sure you do that one task correctly and it'll make sure you finish it. This will also prevent you from loosing supplies or putting it back in the wrong place because you will only have a couple of things out at a time.
8. Know When It's Time To Let Go
Sometimes we hold onto things for to long. If you have something and you really don't need it, give it away. What's the point in keeping something if you never use it? This will definitely help you have less clutter and it will make sure that you only have what you need. For example, if you have like 4 pencil cases worth of supplies, only bring 1 bag, you don't need 4 sets of everything. Give it away to your friends who maybe really need that extra bag of highlighters.
9. Ask Your Teachers
Sometimes your teachers can help you stay organized. Ask them what you need, what you can do, how it'll help. This can help you understand exactly what you need to do. This will help you have a better understanding of what is to be expected for your school year and how you can accomplish any of the tasks they give you.
10. Accept That You're Imperfect
No matter what you do, if you're a messy person, you'll always be a messy person. Now, this doesn't mean that you can have an organized backpack, but you have to realize that it'll get messy. But, that is why you must re-organize every week. Don't give up, keep organizing!
